Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today under the project of 'Make in Odisha' inaugurated the State's first grain based distillery plant at Harabhanga block of the District. Spread over 35 acres of land, the project includes a 2X60 kilo litres per day (KLPD) Extra Neutral Alcohol production capacity and 2x2.5 megawatt captive power plant which would help in economic development by providing direct and indirect job opportunities in Boudh.

While the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the first ever large scale industry of Boudh District at CMO by unveiling the foundation stone in presence of the company's Chairman, Shri Uday Shankar Prasad, a replica of it was unveiled in the plant premises at the same time in presence of the District Administration and Company's Managing Director to mark the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Ritesh Sahu, Managing Director of the company stated, "The entire value chain will be benefited due to this plant and it will lead us towards a prosperous Boudh. In the first phase of the project, one unit of 60 KLPD capacity distillery is in operational mode and very soon it will open its 2nd unit. "The agro based distillery situated at Rambikata of Boudh is going to impact the rural economy of the district very positively" he added. The distillery does not emit any kind of liquid or gas to the environment. It has electrostatic precipitator which captures and stores all ash and smoke. The left over ash from the coal used in distillery is used for fly ash brick manufacturers.

Speaking on the occasion, Boudh District Collector Lalatendu Mishra said, "This is a proud moment for the district. The first ever large scale industry of Boudh District is not only going to create thousands of jobs for the locals but also would be financially beneficial for the grain farmers as it requires 125 ton broken rice in a daily basis which is unfit for human consumption. The broken rice which was of no use and accumulates a huge loss for the farmers and traders, is now being procured by the plant resulting in an extra income for the entire value chain."
The Distillery not only produces ENA but also the fermented rice after extracting ENA produces a by-product called DDGS (Distillers Dried Grain with Soluble) which has protein content up to 40% and used as animal feed.
Apart from this it produces ethanol to support bio-fuel drive of Government to reduce atmospheric pollution. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility the distillery is also involved in providing many facilities to the locals such as facilitation of RO water purifiers in schools hospitals and temples, conducting health camps, facilitating education equipments to the schools and many more and has plans to continue with the same during days to come.
