The family has been in liquor business and has crafted success stories for more than 125 years now. The story began with descendants of Late Rai Saheb Baldeo Sahu, one of the leading and eminent businessmen of the erstwhile Chotanagpur (division of State of Bihar, now Jharkhand). They knew they had to succeed and take the country liquor to next level. Today they have retail country liquor and IMFL shops all over Jharkhand, Odisha & West Bengal.

 

A true pioneers, after Late Rai Saheb Baldeo Sahu, Uday Shanker Prasad took over and under his leadership saw a period of energetic expansion. The family now has more than 80 micro distilleries where liquor is manufactured from Mahua flower and sold in the retail out still shop. In addition, it also has bottling plants for IMFL in Odisha and Jharkhand; Country liquor in the West Bengal and Jharkhand. Distillation from mahua liquor has also helped villagers to have additional source of income during mahua flower season.

 

Like their ancestors, the third generation made the continuity and evolution of BDPL Group began alongside other micro distilleries. Today the group has largest distillery (Boudh Distillery) of Odisha and is among one of the best distilleries of India within a very short span of time.
